Psalm 1 v 8 How majestic is your name above all the earth
What beautiful singing there has been ringing out around the school in preparation for our Harvest celebrations next week. Do please come and support us on Wednesday 10th October at about 9:15 in Penn Street church.
Unfortunately the Church heating has broken this week and cannot be repaired until the end of next week. Please ensure your child has a coat in school next week and we recommend parents come to the service wrapped up in extra layers!
If you would like your children to bring some harvest gifts, these are collected as they walk through the church gates before the service. The food gifts just need to be something that they are able to carry on their walk to church. These are the items currently listed on their website:
- Long-life milk (500ml)
- Small cartons of juice
- Small jars of coffee
- Biscuits, cereal bars
- Single-serve breakfast cereal cups
- Tinned meat (meatballs, chilli con carne, stew, chicken in sauce)
- Tinned peas
- Tinned potatoes
- Tins of ham and corned beef
- Tins of spaghetti and macaroni cheese
- Tins of fish
- Tins of fruit
It was good to see our electronic Parents’ Evening successfully opened and received this week. We always aim for 100% of our families to be consulted about their child’s education. If you are having any problems with the system, please do contact us.
Following parental feedback we have attached our diary dates to your email this week.
2018 School results
We are thrilled with our results in the end of key stage assessments. Through the hard work and dedication of the both the pupils and staff, we have achieved an excellent set of scores. Highlights include 91% reaching the expected standard in writing at the end of KS2-our highest result yet in writing, raising it to the same high level attained in both reading and maths; and 100% in Year 2 phonics. Thank you for all the support you have provided your children at home. Please do look at the full results: Curzon results
We would like to further improve our newsletter and add photographs of the children. However, we cannot do this until the necessary annual parental consent has been returned. Please refer to our email dated 21 September if you have not already clicked on the link to provide this information.

Staff were thrilled to receive generous furniture donations from Noah’s mum and Tom and Alex’s mum this week. Their workplaces were able to generously donate desks, pedestals and cupboards to improve our storage.
Year 6 have been enjoying a fun-filled, action-packed residential at Woodrow this week. We are proud with the way they have been representing our school, demonstrating great teamwork and motivating each other. Favourite moments have included a Jacob’s Ladder and an evening campfire.
