Psalm 100 v3 Know that the Lord is God
We had a lovely Harvest Festival service in church on Wednesday. The children read their words clearly and sang beautifully. I have to confess to having a tear in my eye when the youngest children sang Thank you Lord for This Fine Day. Thank you to all those who attended and helped make this such a special event.
We made the most of the beautiful weather on Wednesday after the Harvest Festival practising our emergency drills. The children practised a Fire drill and Lockdown.
For our Lockdown procedure, we tell the children that an animal may have escaped from the zoo and therefore they need to hide under the classroom tables and stay silent so that it will go away. Our aim is not to scare the children but to ensure that they know what to do in the unlikely event of an emergency.
Parents’ Evening: Wednesday 17 October 6–8pm and Thursday 18 October 3pm–6pm
Please come 10-15 minutes before your appointment where possible to go into classrooms and see your child/ren’s work so far this term. Appointments with the teachers are held in the hall, accessed via the cloakroom door from the playground. During the appointments, you will be given some notes on key areas of focus such as behaviour and homework completion. This is an initial beginning of year feedback which may already be pointing out some areas for improvement with your child. Do share the teachers’ advice with your children afterwards so that they know that we are working together to gain further progress on these aspects during the second half of the term. The Spring term appointments then contain a lot more detail of their progress in Literacy and Maths.
A reminder that the school closes at 1pm on Thursday 18 October so there will be no after-school clubs. (The taxi service has been rearranged for a 1pm collection.) KS2 pupils do not need to bring in packed lunches as we are working through until 1pm to avoid teaching time being lost. KS1 pupils will also stay in school until 1pm but will have their lunch at school before they go home.
Reminder there will be no gym club on Wednesday next week.
Class 1 and 2 Autumn Walk – Wednesday 31 October – Message from Mrs Steere.
During the afternoon, KS1 children will be going on an Autumnal walk through Penn Woods to support their learning in Science. To allow this to go ahead, we need lots of parent helpers from 1pm. Please email email@example.com if you are available to help.
Swimming Message for Class 5 and 6 from Mrs Patch
Next week, the swimming session will be about water safety. In addition to their swimming costume, please can children bring two piece pyjamas to swim in (no onsies or nighties). Alternatively children can bring loose fitting trousers and a long sleeved loose t-shirt.
