During the visit, pupils explored the worship halls and learned more about how Sikhs show respect and devotion within the Gurdwara. They were also fortunate enough to witness part of a wedding ceremony, which gave them a unique insight into how important celebrations and traditions are within the Sikh community.

To end the visit, the children were invited to enjoy a delicious lunch in the langar (community kitchen), freshly prepared and served by volunteers. This experience helped pupils understand the Sikh principles of equality, community, and kindness in a meaningful and memorable way.

A big thank you to the parent helpers who supported us on this trip. Your time and assistance are greatly appreciated.

Maths Workshops

We have been holding these for all year groups to give parents an opportunity to learn more about how Maths is taught at Curzon. Parents have then been able to play some Maths games with their children. What fun we have had watching parents and pupils battling against each other in a quest to win each game!

The Great Exhibition

As part of the learning about the Victorians, pupils chose to find out about an area in more depth. They then presented their project in whichever way they chose: PowerPoints, models, books etc.

The final projects were displayed in a Great Exhibition and parents and other classes were invited to visit.

Projects included: crime and punishment, Victorian food, the development of railways, the history of Watford football team and rich v poor lives.

Trip to COAM

We travelled back in time to experience what life was like in the past. After a morning trying out Stone Age activities such as drawing with charcoal, shelter building, hunting with spears and making fire, we moved onto the Iron Age and learnt how to grind wheat, make flatbread, churn butter and mould a clay pot.

We had to do some challenges like gathering parsnips and learning how to hunt deer”

“We did spear throwing with an attal-attal and it was very hard.”

“We made charcoal paint and put it on our faces to look scary!”

“We learnt that life was a lot harder in the Stone Age”

“We made dens out of sticks and little pieces of leather. I loved it”

Happy 175th Birthday, Curzon!

We ended term with a fantastic day celebrating Curzon’s 175th Birthday. Everyone wore their party clothes and the whole school gathered together for a special lunch. We sang Happy Birthday to Curzon and shared a delicious cake, kindly donated by Wenzel’s.

Historical archives of our school are currently on display in Penn Street village hall where everyone is welcome to view them.
