As part of their RE learning about Sikhi, some of our lower Key Stage 2 pupils took part in a very special visit to the Gurdwara in Slough. From the moment they arrived, the children were made to feel exceptionally welcome and were able to witness many acts of seva—selfless service carried out by volunteers to help others.

During the visit, pupils explored the worship halls and learned more about how Sikhs show respect and devotion within the Gurdwara. They were also fortunate enough to witness part of a wedding ceremony, which gave them a unique insight into how important celebrations and traditions are within the Sikh community.
To end the visit, the children were invited to enjoy a delicious lunch in the langar (community kitchen), freshly prepared and served by volunteers. This experience helped pupils understand the Sikh principles of equality, community, and kindness in a meaningful and memorable way.
A big thank you to the parent helpers who supported us on this trip. Your time and assistance are greatly appreciated.
